Note:-

Some parts for laptops e.g. Main Boards are often very expensive and can make a repair un economical. A new mainboard typically retails around £150 from Toshiba.

Most laptops consist of a main or system board which have USBs, Graphics Card, network card factory soldered on hot solder beds together with the rest of the main circuitry. It is not possible to do simple hand solder repair jobs on these boards and the best solution is always a board swap out.

A broken power pin on a laptop is not a simple soldering job as some other companies make out. Yes they can be soldered on, but may fall off again within a few weeks or months. These companies will often charge £50-£80 for a repair. One solution is a main board swap out which might make the repair not cost effective. Once a component comes away from a main board it is very difficult to make a long lasting solder repair.
Some newer laptops now have sub assemblies that permit the power pin to be replaced. The laptop will still need to be de-assembled at a cost of £63 plus the replacement power pin part - but it makes the repair more affordable.
